Once your flooring product has been procured, we suggest you contract with a professional wood flooring installer to install your floor.
The success of your installation will rely heavily on proper jobsite conditions being met prior to the floors installation. Your Palo Duro Collection floor should not be brought on site until all windows and doors are installed and all drywall and paint or texturing is completed. Once on-site, your floor should be stacked in the area it is to be installed, please allow 14 days for proper acclimatization for SOLID floors. ENGINEERED should be installed immediately after opening without the acclimatization process. Your flooring product should never be stored in an unheated area, or below grade.
All N.W.F.A. installation guidelines should be adhered to when installing your floor. To our knowledge, we have found no adhesive/mastic products that will not bond to our hardwood flooring products, either solid or engineered. In radiant applications, we highly recommend using a urethane based adhesive.
All plank flooring should be glued and nailed. We recommend a urethane based wood floor adhesive and a proper nailing schedule, every four to six inches should be sufficient.
With the exception of our 5 1/2” engineered wide product, all engineered flooring must be installed via either nail or direct glued to the substrate, application permitting. The 5 1/2” wide engineered floor can be installed via floating, nailed, or direct glue.
All pneumatic or manual blind nailers should have a layer of tape over their plates; this will diminish the opportunity for scratches on the finished product.
The floor should be swept and vacuumed after installation, with any residual mastic removed using recommended glue remover. If an additional finish coat is desired, we recommend using a white and maroon buffing pad to lightly abraid the surface, we also recommend that Eukula Strato Series be used for the finish coat. Check compatibility with a scrap piece of flooring prior to proceeding.
Your Palo Duro Collection floor is unique; knots, distressment, cracks and dents are all part of your floors character. Some boards may be deemed unsightly, place them in inconspicuous spots. Consult with your installer prior to final installation.
